Here (But Not Here) is a fixed-media sound artwork originally commissioned by Chester Bandstand's arts programme, kindly funded by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The work is created from voice recordings of people discussing their experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The work was released on March 18th 2022 in order to mark two years since the introduction of COVID-19 related measures in the UK.

Here (But Not Here) aims to encapsulate the anxiety and frustration of the past two years, while also focusing on the positives to have come out of the pandemic. Themes span from topics such as unemployment and mental health through to the more optimistic themes of family and newfound strength.

While predominantly focused on the perspective of events from the UK, the work includes participants from across the globe, all sharing their unique story of how they've been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
